After a year-long hiatus due to the pandemic, the Sidney medic and vet community saw the return of the annual dinner. A long-awaited event which has always been a highlight of the SSMVS Lent term card.
The evening started in Sidney’s dining hall with a short speech given by myself, welcoming our guests and praising my year group (2019 cohort) for being a close-knit group who support and inspire others daily, through their academic and extracurricular interests. The catering team then started serving an exciting menu, picked by our committee:
Starter: Wild mushroom soup, tarragon Cream, chickpea, shallot crumb
Main: Glazed beef cheek, potato hash, cauliflower, horseradish, brussel sprouts, shallot
Dessert: Blackberry meringue tart, blackberry & Cambridge gin sorbet
Coffee/Tea with Sidney’s own dark chocolate tablets
The dinner was then followed by cheese and port (or elderflower juice) in the Knox-Shaw Room, where guests had the chance to socialise and catch-up with others. It was a pleasure to see our students, supervisors, and fellows gathered together and I hope that everyone had an enjoyable evening.
On behalf of the SSMVS committee, I would like to thank Sidney Sussex Conferencing and Catering teams for their hard work in the lead up to and during the event. They played a vital role in ensuring that all our preferences are met and for allowing the committee to personalise the menu card (see below!)
