PAM (ANIMAL HANDLING)

Principles of Animal Management

PAM is taught via lectures (usually 2 per week) and practicals. It covers animal management (eg nutrition, reproduction, genetics and breeding, housing and environmental control, behaviour, animal welfare, and ethics) and the practical application of animal management in the UK industry.

In Michaelmas, there are 6 animal handling sessions that take place at the Veterinary School and the College of West Anglia. At the beginning of Lent term, there is an opportunity to practise these skills before the assessments during the rest of Lent term.

How is it examined?

YOU WILL SIT ONE EXAM AT THE END OF LENT:

You have 60 minutes to answer 60 multiple choice questions.

A signposting document is released each year to highlight which of the lecture content is likely to be examined.

The pass mark is 60%.

THERE ARE ALSO PRACTICAL ASSESSMENTS:

These test your animal handling and must be passed before completing any EMS.

You are allowed to resit these.
